An Ode to Tacos: How Taco Johns Became an Iconic Brand

We’re pretty proud of our roots here at Taco John’s — after all, we wouldn’t be the iconic brand we are today without the passion and delicious flavors first developed by our founder, John Turner. So, what does it take to turn a single taco stand into an incredible brand with nearly 400 locations across 22 states? Let’s taco ‘bout it.

Serving up bold flavor since the very beginning

Flavor means everything to us and to our customers. We knew that from the very beginning, when our first taco stand opened in 1968. And we know it now! Our menu has changed, but the bold flavors and fresh ingredients have stayed the same and continued to please our loyal customers while attracting new fans, too! Even in times of uncertainty, our brand has continued to thrive, with same-store sales up 10.77% in January.

Giving our customers what they want year after year

We didn’t become one of the largest Mexican quick-service restaurant brands in America by chance. We owe that reputation to our delicious food, lots of hard work and flavor innovators that never stop thinking. Our crispy potato olés changed the potato game back in the 1970s, and when the restaurant industry changed in the 21st century, we introduced our Valuest Menu, which gives our customers all their favorites at prices they just can’t resist.

Knowing when it’s time to change

We’ve been serving delicious food for more than 50 years, and with that experience comes wisdom — the knowledge that we can always be Bigger. Bolder. Better. And that’s exactly how we intend to be in 2021 as we continue to roll out our redesigned freestanding restaurant. We’re excited to welcome you in as we grow in all the ways that matter.
